Some previous open water experience is recommended
All divers must bring proof of certification
by a national certifying agency. The dive master will
request to see your certification before you are allowed
to dive. If you have any other certification, as for
nitrox, also remember to bring it.
All passengers must have valid Divers
Alert Network or DiveAssure (or similar) insurance designed
to evacuate divers in the event of an accident.
Needed gear: 3-5 mm (1/8" to
3/16") wetsuit, mask, fins, snorkel, regulator
with visible pressure gauge, a mandatory dive computer,
buoyancy compensator, depth gauge, dive gloves, weight
belt (without weights), dive knife and dive watch. It
is recommended that you mark each piece of gear with
waterproof paint or tape. We suggest you put all or
most of the above items in a carry-on bag. There is
ample storage space for your diving equipment, including
your own personal locker. Onboard you will be provided
with weights for your weight belt: 2, 3, 4, and 6 lbs.
(1, 1.5, 2 and 3 kilos), and tanks with air or Nitrox
-- 80 cubic ft. aluminum (12 liters).
Onboard you can rent a complete line
of ScubaPro dive gear:
regulator, BCD, wetsuit, mask, fins, snorkel, and Aladin
Pro Nitrox dive computers
Safety
Due to the remoteness Cocos Island safety is an absolute
priority at all times. Captains are qualified with internationally
recognized seafaring licenses. Many of our crew are
Medic First Aid Instructors or are trained for basic
first aid and as DAN O2 providers. All our crew maintain
peak performance skills for emergencies.

The Undersea Hunter company fleet
consists of two long-range ocean going vessels: the
research vessels “UNDERSEA HUNTER” and “SEA
HUNTER”, both are registered in Costa Rica and
certified for International Voyages.
Both vessels meet international safety standards for
emergency equipment and offer an extended expedition
range of some 5000 nautical miles. With an average cruising
speed of 10 Knots, the vessels can safely and comfortably
reach the most isolated corners of the sea world.
Each vessel is equipped with two 24-foot heavy-duty fiberglass
dive boats. The skiffs are further equipped with VHF radios,
depth sounders, a T-Roof and rigid bow cover. The skiffs
are powered by twin 90HP 4-cycle fumeless outboard motors.
Each skiff accommodates up to nine divers plus Divemaster,
who always dives with the group. Each of the skiffs will
reach a different dive site that is switched on the following
dive allowing the two groups to dive the same areas but
at different times of the day. Between the dives, as the
tanks are being refilled there is time for sea kayaking
or to go back on the skiffs for a photo tour or optional
land excursions.
The vessels have both 110 and 220 volts ac. The cabins
have 110 volts ac only. There is a variety of nightly
entertainment available on board: slide shows, DVDs, videos,
music, games and much more. |
