Local Flights

If you prefer an aerial view and don’t want to go from one destination to other by land, we can assist you arranging your domestic flights inside Costa Rica or to Bocas del Toro in Panama. Rica airlines ith daily flights to and from San Jose, and also from Liberia to San Jose and to Arenal.

There are daily scheduled or private charter flights to main vacation destinations in Costa Rica. The planes can carry from 5 to 18 passengers; usually the scheduled flight operates on 12 passenger planes. Domestic flights take between 20 to 50 minutes depending on where you are going.

The main destinations within Costa Rica are: Liberia, Tamarindo, Quepos, Palmar Sur, Drake Bay, Puerto Jimenez, Tortuguero, Arenal, Samara, Nosara, Punta Islita, Tambor, Golfito, San Jose. International flights going to Bocas del Toro in Panama are also available, operated by Costa Rica airlines. Nature Air Airlines operates scheduled flights to Nicaragua three times a week. Costa Rica charter flights can be arranged to Panama and Nicaragua any day of the week, operated by Nature Air, Sansa Airline or other charter airline.

There are two main domestic airlines in Costa Rica: Sansa Airlines and Nature Air. Sansa operates mainly in Juan Santamaria International Airport and Nature Air in Tobias Bolaños Airport, (located in Pavas, around 30-40 minutes away from the international airport). Also there are others charter airlines, operating from both airports.
If you are flying from or back to San Jose you can depart/arrive to Juan Santamaria International Airport or to Tobias Bolaños Airport, depending on the operating airline.ost of the scheduled flights departs and arrives to San Jose. Nature Air airline has interdestination flights: Quepos-Palmar Sur, Tamarindo-Arenal, Liberia-Arenal and Quepos-Arenal. For other inter destination services we offer charter reservations.

The local airports are airstrips or landing fields; Costa Rica has only two international airports, one in Alajuela, located around 30 minutes away from San Jose downtown and the other one in Liberia, Guanacaste. We will be glad to assist reserving charter airline services (Sansa, Nature Air and other charters airline) from international airports, in San Jose and Liberia City, to destinations within the country and to Bocas del Toro in Panama.

* Only one bag per person is allowed, not exceeding 25 pounds.
* Check in is 30 minutes before domestic flights.
* Surfboards and bicycles may be carried on a space available basis, fee will apply. Transportation of these items is subject to space.
* There is an airport service charge at the Juan Santamaria Airport.
* Fuel surcharge may apply for Costa Rica domestic flights (per way per person).
